PairOnce

PHONE → WORK COMPUTER · NO INSTALL

Send files from your phone to a work computer you can’t install anything on

Open paironce.com in the work computer’s browser, scan the QR code with your phone, then tap Choose files on the phone; nothing is installed and you never sign in.

On the computer, click Accept and Save: the file goes straight from your phone to that browser, encrypted end to end.

When you are done, remove your phone under Your devices on the work computer so it does not remember you.

Step by step

  1. Open PairOnce on the work computer. Go to paironce.com in the browser the company already provides: Chrome, Edge, Safari or Firefox. No download, no administrator rights.
  2. Connect your phone. Scan the QR code with the phone’s camera, or type the six-digit code at paironce.com on the phone. Check that the safety codes match and click Approve device on the computer. A page opened from a QR code or link asks you to confirm first: tap Connect.
  3. Send from the phone. Tap Choose files for photos or documents, or Message or link for a link or a note.
  4. Save it on the computer. Click Accept, then Save, and check your Downloads folder.
  5. Clean up afterwards. Under Your devices on the work computer, remove your phone with Remove. Delete the saved file from Downloads once you no longer need it on that computer.

Check two things first

Your company’s rules. Moving personal or company files between devices may be against policy; ask if you are not sure.

The company network. If it blocks direct connections, PairOnce falls back to an encrypted relay over the usual web port, which most offices allow; each device can relay 200 MB a month.

Limits, and when this is not the right tool

  • A file can be up to 2 GB over a direct connection when the receiving browser saves straight to disk (Chrome or Edge on a computer or Android, Firefox on a computer, Safari on iOS 26 or later). Other browsers take up to 50 MB per file and hold 100 MB of received files at a time.
  • Files over 2 GB need PairOnce Pro on one of the two devices. Then a file can be up to 10 GB, received the same way, and the relay carries 5 GB a month.
  • When the two devices cannot reach each other directly, an encrypted relay carries the data. Each device can send and receive 200 MB a month that way, counted together; a direct connection has no monthly limit.
  • Both pages must stay open until everything has arrived: keep the phone’s screen on and the browser in front.
  • PairOnce moves things between two devices that are open at the same time. It is not cloud storage: nothing waits on a server for later.

Other ways to do it

  • Email it to your work address. Always allowed, but attachments stop around 25 MB and personal-to-work email may itself be against policy.
  • WhatsApp Web. You have to sign in to your personal account on the work computer.
  • OneDrive, Google Drive or Teams. Good if the company already uses them; you need to sign in on the phone with a work account.
  • A USB stick or cable. Often blocked on managed computers.

Common questions

Does PairOnce install anything on the computer?

No. It is a web page. The browser stores only the pairing with your phone, which you can remove under Your devices.

Can the company see the file contents?

The transfer is encrypted between the two browsers, so the network and PairOnce cannot read it. The company may still manage the computer itself and see what is saved on it.

How big can the files be?

Up to 2 GB per file when the computer receives in Chrome, Edge or Firefox on a direct connection; 50 MB in other browsers. Files over 2 GB, up to 10 GB, need PairOnce Pro on one of the two devices.
